Overview

The kit is bigger than your window on purpose. You measure the opening, cut the mesh and the strips down to it, and what is left over is waste rather than a compromise.

Nothing is screwed into the frame. A self adhesive PVC strip goes around the window and the magnetic strip on the screen grips it, so the screen lifts off whenever you want the window bare.

That is why it works in a rented flat. It comes away without marking the frame and it goes up again in the next place.

Most windows take under 15 minutes. The written instructions with pictures come in the box.

Shipping & returns

Delivery across the United Kingdom in 5 to 7 days. It is free on orders of £60 or more, and a flat £22 below that.

You can cancel within 14 days of receiving your order without giving a reason, under regulation 20 of S.I. No. 484 of 2013, which implements the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. You then have a further 14 days to send the goods back, and you pay the cost of returning them.

A screen cut to your own measurements is made to your specification, so regulation 13(1)(c) removes the cancellation right once we have started making it. A standard size you cut down yourself at home keeps the full right until you cut it.

If it arrives faulty, damaged or not as described we put it right at no cost to you, return postage included, under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Midge Window Flyscreen - Black Frame / 1m x 1m

A standard fly screen stops flies and mosquitoes and lets midges straight through. That is the whole reason this version exists: the weave is finer, so the insects a standard mesh is too open for do not get in.

Midge Window Flyscreen - Black Frame / 1m x 1m

Everything else is the same kit. Fibreglass mesh, a magnetic strip around the screen and a self adhesive PVC strip on the window frame, cut down to your own opening, nothing screwed in and under 15 minutes to fit.

Midge Window Flyscreen - Black Frame / 1m x 1m

It is worth having near water and in the west and north of the country, where midges are the insect people actually complain about. A finer weave does cut a little more air than the standard mesh, which is the trade you are making.

Midge Window Flyscreen - Black Frame / 1m x 1m

It comes in the same three frame colours and lifts off the same way for cleaning.

  • Effective Midge Prevention: The Midge Proof Fly Screen Mesh is crafted with a finer weave than standard screens, effectively preventing even the smallest bugs from entering.

Choosing the Right Midge Mesh Fly Screen for Your Windows

Selecting the right Midge Proof Fly Screen Mesh involves considering several factors to ensure that you get the most effective and suitable option for your home:

  • Measure Precisely: Accurate measurements of your windows are crucial to ensure that the flyscreens fit perfectly without any gaps where midges might sneak through.

  • Frame Material: Choose frames that are durable and can withstand the elements, particularly if you live in an area with variable weather. Aluminum frames are popular for their durability and rust resistance.

  • Mesh Quality: Ensure the mesh is specifically designed as a Midge Mesh Fly Screen. The mesh should have a fine weave but still allow for good air flow and visibility.

  • Installation Options: Consider whether you want fixed, retractable, or magnetic screens depending on your window type and how frequently you need to open them for cleaning or access.

Installation Tips for Midge Window Flyscreens

Installing your Midge Window Flyscreen can be a straightforward process if you follow these tips:

  • Surface Preparation: Clean the window frame thoroughly to ensure the screen adheres properly, especially if you are using a magnetic or self-adhesive frame.

  • Follow Instructions: Each type of Midge Mesh Fly Screen may come with specific installation instructions. Follow these closely to ensure the screen is secure and effective.

  • Check for Gaps: After installation, inspect around the edges of the screen to ensure there are no gaps. Even the smallest gap can allow midges to enter.

Maintaining Your Midge Proof Fly Screen Mesh

To ensure your Midge Window Flyscreen continues to perform effectively, regular maintenance is necessary:

  • Regular Cleaning: Clean the mesh gently with soapy water and a soft brush to remove dirt and debris that can clog the fine mesh, reducing its effectiveness and visibility.

  • Check for Damage: Inspect your screens regularly for any tears or damage. Even a small tear can be enough for midges to penetrate.

  • Seasonal Adjustments: If your screens are removable, consider taking them down during colder months when midges are less prevalent. This can help extend the life of the mesh.
